Literature Text

Down below; in the deepest of depths
Down here they keep him chained
Here he sees not the sky
Feels not the wind nor the sun
Deep below; his body lays chained
Only in his dreams does he escape from his hell

In slumber he flies
Up onto the sky; like an eagle true and sure
The peaks of the snow capped mountains
They have no say
Over the limits to which me may soar

But his body remains chained down below
Wait! Here they come to take him away!
They drag his near-corpse up endless stairs
His neck on the block
The axe falls down; his head in the basket
His body, now worthless, remains on the ground
But his soul, now free, flies high
Up, up high; into the sky
6th and last poem
